I've just deployed an EFA server, and am finding that the Mailscanner process randomly stops. It is currently showing in the web front end with 2 processes, but will randomly stop.. Is there a way to determine a cause for this and restart without a full server reboot?

How much mail are you processing? You might want to increase the amount of memory for your VM and see if that helps.

I just noticed this also on a few other systems.

It seems mailscanner is running out of memory in all my tests.
Increasing the memory of your virtual machine will fix your issue.

Ideas on how to spot these issues (and report to the admin) are welcome.

I am thinking of some sort of script that checks the systems usage and sends out notifications to the admin if recommendation thresholds are reached but not sure if that is the best way to go.
