I start the update, it updates the kernel, successfully, tells me to reboot. I reboot, and the system hangs on black screen. Does not get to the centOS boot screen.

Any ideas? Anyone else experience this?

Might be a kernel issue with your setup. Do you get to the boot screen? If so, can you select the previous kernel?

If not, it is possible that grub boot is messed up somehow. You can attempt a recovery of grub if you have a CentOS disk or iso you can boot onto.

No, I don't get a boot screen at all. Just a blank screen, just before it would normally display the boot screen.

I'll try the recovery. I assume I do the update, and then boot to the iso, and there will be a grub recovery option??

That seems to have been the problem. Installed the new kernel, booted to CentOS ISO, and ran repair on Grub...it boots now
