[SOLVED] MailScanner no longer running after EFA Monitor ALERT

I got the alert at 3:30am EST. Since then all mail has stopped coming in.

running 'service MailScanner status' returns 'FAILED'

The web interface shows MailScanner status "NO" with 0 procs running.
The inbound queue has been steadily growing since this alert message came in and nothing's been moving from it.

I've tried bumping the appliance from 2gb to 4gb, then 8gb but still no luck.

I've read a few posts with similar issues to look for clues but no luck. I can't get MailScanner running again. Various logs aren't showing any glaring errors - either that or I don't know what I'm looking for.

Every time I start MailScanner it says it came up just fine, but a status check always returns failed.

I don't know what else to do. Suggestions?


**EDIT**

I did a 'lint' test and I got an error saying IO::Compress::Base was outdated. I went into a cpan prompt and manually updated it and mailscanner started right up.

Not sure how that happened... weird.
