EFA just stops passing traffic

I am not sure what is going on, but this morning was the second instance where EFA just stops passing traffic. It sits in front of a SBS 2011 and after a regular reboot, it simply won't pass email anymore and has to be removed from service. I run it in VirtualBox and it ran great for several months until this morning.
TBH, I am not really sure how to even start troubleshooting it. I shut it down gracefully from inside VB, rebooted the physical box and nothing. Rebooted just the VM and still nothing.
Pretty much my only option at this point is to start with a new instance of the VM, but I would love to hear ideas about where to start with the t/s process.
