EFA + Plesk

Post by massimo.rc »

Hi,
I have a multidomain server (with plesk panel).
This server use MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) postfix.

I would like to use "EFA PROJECT" to check inbound and outbound spam.

I think know how to check outbound spam: I can enable (on Plesk machine) the postfix relay function towards EFA Project Virtual Machine.

But how can I do for inbound spam?
I would like to set postfix (on Plesk machine) to send to EFA Project the emails I want to check on port 25.
EFA Project process the emails, and send again the mails checked to postfix on another port (different from 25, to avoid loops).

Does anyone know how to do so?

Best regards.

Do you want to run this all on the same server or do you have an dedicated server for E.F.A. ? (this is required)

Then you should point your DNS MX records to the E.F.A. appliance, and forward the mails to the Plesk server.

Internet -> E.F.A. Appliance -> Plesk server.
In E.F.A. you can configure the domains for which it should receive mails and the destination mail server (in this case your plesk server)

You should not forward the mails from plesk to EFA and then back to plesk, that is an really bad scenario as it will look like all mails are received from your plesk server causing blacklisting, rbls etc to be useless :)

We have a set up similar, we run multiple web servers (a combination of plesk and cpanel).

We have one EFA to scan outgoing and incoming is handled directly on the webservers and scanned with spamassassin (if our users want any more than that then they need to pay for our hosted exchange, etc. Which has EFA scanning on inbound as well).

Our outgoing EFA is set up to accept from our webservers (mynetworks = )

Nothing treated from the webservers is whitelisted, its job is to catch spam from web forms, vulnerabilities, etc.

Happy to help you out if need any help/advice.
