Can I install dovecot and convert the EFA into a mailbox server too?
authenticate smtp sessions in postfix to authenticate with dovecot? I have experience making each module independent, but I want to try converting EFA into a mailbox server, any particular advice or something to consider or if it is not possible or gives some conflict?
i have another server with dovecot, mysql, postfix, maiscanner, mailwatch for mailscanner, made manually
make EFA a mailbox server dovecot pop imap smtp

In theory, it is possible, although I have never attempted it.

Brave man! You must like administering servers.
I used to do "crazy" things like that, but experience has taught me that it is better to go the appliance route so you don't have to worry about things breaking when you upgrade them.
Also, with vm's being so easy to use - it's easy for me to spin up a dedicated server just for a specific purpose.
just an opinion.
