EFA v3 vs v4 - what are the differences?

Post by ovizii »

I haven't found a comparison so far hence my question.
I'm just curious what changed i.e. do both use the same components (i.e. postfix, spamassassin, mailwatch etc.?)
What else is different?

v3

CentOS 6 which has pretty much gone to the wayside
No longer supported, there are unpatched vulnerabilities in several components (Spamassassin, MailWatch, Webmin, and maybe others)
Old versions of components with the bugs that go along with them
Cyrus for Submission service
Message spam/not spam signing CGI sigs
Uses old postfix queue method with MailScanner that is not supported and frowned upon by postfix community
GeoIP v1 which no longer works
PHP 5x

v4

CentOS 7
More secure
SELinux enforced by default with labels applied to sensitive files to jail them
Actively maintained
Full IPv6 support
Latest versions of components and any features those have added
SPF/DKIM and DMARC verification and reporting (signing also but takes some setup on your part)
Dovecot for Submission service
No spam/not spam signing link (on roadmap to add back but not as CGI)
Postfix Milter for MailScanner using supported interfaces to postfix
GeoIPv2
MaxMind license key support
Automated updates
Separate Testing and Production repos for increased update stability
Completely RPM-based
GUI initial setup as well as CLI
PHP 7x
php-fpm daemon

A good place to start : viewtopic.php?t=3154
Just try to imagine all the time and skills needed to make eFa4 work.
Or far worse, try to imagine life without eFa :shifty:

For the record, I'm SUPER glad I switched over to it... it was simple to get configured and it seems to just WORK.
