Another possible distribution: Devuan. It's debian without systemd. Might be worth considering.

(So far, my experiences with systemd has not been pleasant)

The topic was started two years ago. Thats a lot of time for operating systems. Maybe a new new poll with new choices makes sense?

LOL  too late CentOS is the winner. The reason is based on:

1) The votes here
2) Good support from all packages for CentOS
3) RPM specs were portable from CentOS 6
4) Ability to create export/import and/or transfer to eFa4 from eFa3 will be more practical

I am also migrating all linux servers including my Laptop to OpenRC. It is working pretty well on Arch / Manjaro. It is simple Ram and IO saving, fast and more open. The guys from gentoo (forum) helping very much by providing init scripts. But sadly it is not "mainstream" any more. I am hoping to see eFa as a docker image so I could use it on my Arch hosts.

Docker is on my wishlist :D. It seems like it could be very useful and provide greater portability and easier physical server deployment.

Wow. 4 years later on and here we are.

Maybe we should consider Centos 8. After all, Centos 7 is only supported until 2024 which is just around the corner.

Centos 8 will get us to 2027 at least.

Time sure flies!

We are, currently development is slow because of limited time, but also because of all the things we want to make work in a new version..

Maybe we should just start with a initial release on centos 8 and add features later on so we have more releases..

No clue how much time is needed to build efa5 on Centos 8, but as time is the major factor for the new release, we could freeze new development on efa4 on Centos 7 and release a final efa4 version an just focus on solving issues that pop up.

With a few known issues to solve we could move away from efa3 a.s.a.p.
It also will save time when there is no need to respond to efa3 issues anymore.

A agree with henk. Let's do a release of v4, get v3 off the website for download (it is way outdated) and start moving forward.
