backup and restore functionality

Post by SharazJek »

i would really love to see a backup and restore function, something that would save the entire spamassasin database as well as greylist, SSL certs, mailscanner and postfix config, etc etc, and then be able to import it back into a fresh install or deploy.

i am thinking mySQL databases, everything. i would also include /home and /etc/pki/ , /etc passwd and groups and related files (even /etc/bashrc), what i am see in my head is a way to take an existing system, dump its entire config and necessities, build a new system (choose any platform), and exit the initial setup. from there one of the menu options in the backup/restore area would be to provide a location (http over wget, or local file location, etc, and ultimately clone the old entire-running-config into a fresh new system.
