Quarantine retention

First of EFA we had as spamgateway spamsnake http://www.howtoforge.com/the-perfect-s ... tu-8.04-p2.
To clear old quarantine store mail we used cron task as: /usr/bin/quarantine_maint.php -clean &> /dev/null

It neccessary to schedule a task to clear old mail in quarantine ?
