Disable Greylisting

Post by Rob.M.P »

I have seen in a previous post before greylisting was introduced to E.F.A that there would be an option to disable greylisting. Is this now possible since the inclusion of greylisting in 3.0?

We previously used ESVA and disabled this option. On reflection is it worth enabling this? Should I learn to process e-mail via the greylist?

This is now enabled by default, but you can disable it using EFA-Configure..

If you don't like the wait period of 5 minutes just disable it.
Version eFa 4.x now available!

In my opinion it is worth to enable greylisting but it is a bit depending on you organisation. Although the greylist option has a 5 minute delay, the originating server might wait much longer before it does a retransmission. Therefore it might take up to half an hour to receive the e-mail. Most users doesn't know when an e-mail is sent so half an hour doesn't matter, for others who do expect an e-mail (e.g. waiting on the phone) it can be annoying. Auto whitelisting over time will learn regular senders but new ones do have to wait (once).
So, it is up to you but I have enabled it and it does reduce unwanted junk.
