We're still using 3.0.2.6 as haven't got round to moving v4 just yet. One thing I've noticed is that outgoing mail is scanned & if it's blocked it doesn't get included in the quarantine report sent to the user. This cropped up as someone accidentally sent an attachment with a dodgy extension which caused it to be blocked:
MailScanner: Attempt to hide real filename extension (XXXXXXX.docx.pdf)
They didn't know the email didn't go through & it took over a week before they found out when they contact the recipient asking why they had no reply.
Is there a way to get blocked outgoing email included in the daily report sent to a user or if not is there a way not to scan outgoing email? Maybe this is an easy answer but I wasn't able to find it.
Much appreciated!
Outgoing email stopped
Re: Outgoing email stopped
I found how to not scan outgoing content by changing the content.scanning.rules file in /etc/MailScanner/rules. It's not the ideal solution so if anyone has any better suggestions would appreciate it.
