How to receive to postmaster@[IP_ADDRESS]

Post by authierma »

Hello,

Probably this question has been asked often but I cannot seem to find the right answer.

After checking with dnsquerries.com (smtp), it seems no e-mail can be sent to postmaster@[IP_ADDRESS]

What setting in EFA must be modified so my installation be compliant?

ref: The SMTP server does not accept mails to postmaster@[IP_ADDRESS]. This is a very bad thing, as this address is used by people that don't know your domain name! The reported error is

Thanks

Why would you want to receive mail on user@IP

This is not supported anywhere and should never be used.
a long long long time ago (the beginning of the internet..) this was used but now with multi domain servers its useless and is not supported anymore.

Sorry, here's the complete error message:

Accepts Mail to domain literals The SMTP server does not accept mails to postmaster@[IP_ADDRESS]. This is a very bad thing, as this address is used by people that don't know your domain name! The reported error is:

554 5.7.1 <postmaster@[x.x.x.x]>: Relay access denied

Maybe try it with your own e-mail server info.

Thanks,

As mentioned, there is no need to allow this and it is not supported in E.F.A.
it is old, unused, and an overall bad practice.
