I've been through the forums, Wiki, Google and I can't seem to find anything after the initial configuration and reboot. Do I have to make any changes to MX records, firewall ports, anything? I'm just not sure and I'm stuck. I see that many people have gotten through the install and are using the appliance, so I'm thinking I missed something... Your help is appreciated.
Just real quick environment info: Exchange 2010, using GFI currently, but it runs on the Exchange server. The renewal is up soon and we are probably moving to O365 in less than a year, so it doesn't make sense to renew, plus I don't like that GFI sits on my Exchange server, which is already limping along. Approximately 675 mailboxes; about 6500 messages per day, based on the last 7 days.
What am I missing???

Perhaps you could explain a little bit more about what you want to do?
What is GFI anyway?
Normally, EFA is configured to accept mail for the domain, do its checks and then forward the mail to an internal mail host. That's pretty much it. From the internet, to EFA, then to the internal mail host.

GFI provides a anti spam solution. (gfisoftware .de/products-and-solutions/email-and-messaging-solutions/gfi-mailessentials/resources/white-papers)
The MX record shows the mail dns/ext. ip entries for the mail domain. Has it changed? If not, you don't have to change it.

I guess the question is, do I need to change my firewall rule to send that traffic to the internal IP address of the EFA instead of the Exchange server, as it is now? I'm sure I do, I just can't find that in the documenation.

Old:
ext. Mail Srv -> FW -> Exchange (+GFI)
New:
ext. Mail Srv -> FW -> EFA -> Exchange
So the FW must redirect the mails (Port 25) to EFA. My FW config don't chang automatically, yours?
