MailWatch database issue, no message information in web interface.

EFA-3.0.2.6

This VMWare appliance has been running beautifully for many years. This issue did crop up though after an update a while back but now it looks like it's come back. Filtering is still working just fine, virus blocking and all. But when trying to view message information from within the MailWatch web interface nothing is shown other than (see attached) :

(with the pertinent information of course)

When trying to looking at the database and table permissions from Webmin, this error is thrown: DBI connect failed : Access denied for user 'mailwatch'@'localhost' to database 'mysql'

I have seen this in the past after an update (as I mentioned above) and if I recall it was a pretty easy fix. But right now, not even the root user has access to modify the database or add user permissions to the database or the tables or even dump it to a flat file to restore to a new deployment. The link that is usually embedded for the recipient to report the message as Spam is also not being appended to incoming mail... even though it appears that it is being checked correctly.

Does this sound like a familiar issue to anyone? If so... what was the fix?

Could it be the GeoIP issue?

Hi shawniverson,

Wow. I just searched that log file... and am seeing this:

PHP Notice: Uninitialized string offset: 1 in /var/www/html/mailscanner/lib/geoip.inc on line 1757

But reading that thread... I'm still not clear on the solution. If I need to upgrade to 4.x, I'm afraid I'll lose all the history since I can't dump / backup the database.

If all else fails though... it's not really that big of a loss to me to just deploy a new appliance and start over.

I removed the GeoIP.dat file from two locations that it showed up and *poof*... problem solved.

Thank you! You made my day... :D
