Re: Issue with allowing spam

SA seems to be working just fine, in the screenshot I cna see a message scored with 14.33 - what did you set your SPAM limits to? My SPAM limit is 5 and high Scoring SPAM limit is 10. or did I misread that screenshot? Did you by any chance activate the option for individual SPAM scores? If you do th...

DCC Server Available - advantages?

I read the announcement about EFA DCC servers being available and I read https://www.rhyolite.com/dcc/ but I'm failing to see what the advantage is to using this server versus the publicly available ones. Also, the DCC link I posted here mentions "DCC client-ID and corresponding password" ...

Re: Too many connections

Looking at this thread, I don't think anything is being blocked. Seems just like a warning about too many outgoing connections. I'm sure the firewall also has some sort of reporting so you can check what kind of connections it is talking about.

As people have mentioned, it might simple DNS queries.

Re: Cloud Platforms and Providers

Can you expand a bit upon your question? are you referring to "scripts" when you say templates to i.e. install on Digitalocean? I'm a big fan of Proxmox and Proxmox can use appliances from here: https://www.turnkeylinux.org/ and since Proxmox can now use LXC - would that be possible? Altho...

Re: Outgoing greylist

Ok, I get that. still not seeing why the way sqlgrey works isn't good enough for you. I assume it would work this way as I have never tried it: a) a regular user sends email through your (possibly) exchange server? so the flow would be: user => exchange => efa || greylisting applies || 5 minutes or ...

Re: Outgoing greylist

policyd is a plicy deamon, that isn't actually "pure" greylisting as far as I know. according to wikipedia, this is the definition of greylisting and sqlgrey does exactly that: Greylisting is a method of defending e-mail users against spam. A mail transfer agent (MTA) using greylisting wil...

Re: Outgoing greylist

I change the order of the smtpd_recipient_restrictions, I puted the check_policy_service inet:127.0.0.1:2501 in the first place, this put the email in the greylist, but it puts the sender not the destination mail (useless). after reading your post again, I don't think this will work. sqlgrey is doi...

Sure, makes sense if none of your existing users is using Exchange from outside your premises. I was just thinking about avoiding to duplicate an auth mechanism you might already have had in place.

Re: Email to the wrong mailbox

I was about to suggest the very same thing, its most probably Outlook on the client side, maybe Outlook's autocomplete is messed up. I'm sure if you ask them to forward you one of these emails as attachments and then look into the headers of that email you will see they were actually writing to bob@...

Re: Outgoing greylist

Why would you want to greylist your outgoing emails?
Don't you trust your own users?
They will probably get greylisted on the recipient side anyway :-)

What are you trying to accomplish?

Re: Allow external SMTP auth for relay

I'm not sure that is the best solution, don't you already have an existing authentication system, i.e. your own mail server i.e. Exchange or postfix + i.e. dovecot where your own users are authenticated? why not create this external account on that same system?

Cannot login to Webmin

This is an EFA setup on which I have never used webmin before. I just tried logging in with root and the user created during setup and none work but I know the credentials are right because I verified them on the console. Webmin keeps giving me: login denied. Am I supposed to change my login details...

trying to leran SPAm with SA got: permission denied

I selected a message which was not properly identified as SPAM so I chose to train bayes with it. I marked: learn as SPAM and clicked the button and got this: SA Learn config: path "/root/.spamassassin" is inaccessible: Permission denied, Learned tokens from 1 message(s) (1 message(s) exam...

Re: Pyzor Questions

You are correct, it will not work as root. You will need to start a new SSH session with EFA, enter the shell, then run that command without elevating to root first. :) I don't think so, if I don't elevate to root I am using the account which was created when setting up EFA and that is not the acco...

You can run this... CODE: SELECT ALL echo "test" | spamassassin -D pyzor 2>&1 | less And you should see near the top that you get a "Ok" response from servers listed in that file. thanks but running that line I am running it as root so does it use /var/spool/postfix/.pyzor/s...
