Re: Improving my EFA Performance

It should be plenty of hardware, that's not the problem. The problem is elsewhere.

I'm doing some testing now to see if I can isolate the issue.

Re: MailScanner Max Children

The page marked 125 is 141 pages in. There is another document added to the front of the PDF which throws off the page numbering.

As for the 16 processes, with a max of 10 set in EFA, I'm not sure. I'd have to dig in and look.

Re: Improving my EFA Performance

It looks like the mailscanner process is getting hung up on i/o somewhere.

I have an idea. I'll test it in a couple of hours and let you know if it makes a difference for me.

Re: Improving my EFA Performance

As a wild ass guess, I'd suspect mysql being the bottleneck to mailscanner. Perhaps there is a way to debug the time it takes for Mailscanner to handle requests. That information could give you a better indication of where Mailscanner is being held up. Once you know that, then solving the problem be...

Re: MailScanner Max Children

If you look at page 141 of the MailScanner User Guide and Training Manual , you can see their recommendations. So how many should you use? It'll depend on the workload and where the processes are contending for resources. I'd be inclined to go with 1 or 2 per CPU core (3 for hyperthreaded cores) and...

Re: MailScanner Max Children

For that, you may want to look through the mailscanner forums and docs. EFA is just a very nice bundling, integration and preconfiguration of various mail delivery and anti spam tools. While people in the forums may know the answer to a particular question, you may be more likely to find the answers...

Re: Improving my EFA Performance

Press '1' in top to give a per CPU usage breakdown and send a screenshot of that.

Next, try iotop and get a feel of what is happening with io and how much

How did you setup your system? By hand, or from the prepared vm images?

What about the host machine? Is it busy, or lacking ram?

Re: Improving my EFA Performance

I'd say something is wrong. That's just way too high. run top, display all the CPUs. Is the machine running out of memory and swapping? Is the machine stuck with a high % of IOWAIT? (waiting on disk io) Which process is getting hung up and consuming cpu? Without more information, it's very difficult...

Re: EFA 3.0.7 update

Spamassassin is doing a heck of a lot of checks, so yes, it appears to take a fair amount of realtime to consult all the RBLs, check all the rules, etc, etc, etc.

It appears to be perfectly normal.

are you logged into the site when you do your searches?

I seemed to notice that searches were more limited unless you are registered and logged in.

that may not actually be the case, maybe I am getting better at picking my search terms.

Well, I'll take that as a "no" Fortunately, I found this set of instructions: https://www.howtoforge.com/set-up-dkim-domainkeys-identified-mail-working-with-postfix-on-centos-using-opendkim Basically, these instructions are basically correct for doing it in EFA, but with some minor changes. tried that. Still getting grey listed.

I've tried:
sender domain: *
source: xxx.yyy.zzz

(the sender domains will be the original senders, not the domain of the virus removing provider/smarthost I am using).
