Re: Disk size /var suddenly increasing

Update: It seems that the editing of the retention setting and a reboot were sufficient to resolve the problem. Free space is steady for now.
Thanks

Re: Disk size /var suddenly increasing

Ok forget the comment to increasing 12,75 GB to 12,80 GB, I assume retention will be done one time a day, so that (normally temporarily) increase is of course obvious/normal because of the incoming mails.

Re: Disk size /var suddenly increasing

Thank you for your reply! I did not change any cron jobs ls -l /var/dcc/log |wc -l => 3486 If I go into that directory and run the command "du -h" I get around 81 MB. That seems to be not the problem. find /var/spool/MailScanner/quarantine -maxdepth 1 -type d ! -name '.' -exec du -sh {} \;...

Disk size /var suddenly increasing

Hello, we have EFA 3.0.2.6 installed. I saw that since a few weeks the free disk space of /var is continuously decreasing. Normally the free disk space has been nearly the same for years. It seems that /var/spool/MailScanner/quarantine is increasing, though retention is on 60 days and has not been c...

Different "FROM"-attributes?

Hello, I have a question to the Mailwatch GUI. When I open a message (under "Recent messages" => clicking on the information icon of the according mail) I can see different fields of the message, like "ID", "Message Headers", "From", "To" etc. So far...

block MS office documents with macros

Hey guys,

we are using version 3.0.2.6 and want to mark MS Office documents with macros (due to high virus risk) as spam or at least block such mails.
Is there a possibility to do something like that?
Thanks in advance

Spam mails with employee names as sender name

Hello, we are getting a lot of spam mails where the sender name is like the name of one of our employees (different employees every time). Since it is only the sender name, not the sender address, SPF is not effective here. Is there a way to implement the following logic (or another one which would ...

Re: Forwarding rule to external address and change of sender address

That's what I feared, thanks anyway.
We have Exchange. But there is no option to change the sender address (at least not in our environment).

Thanks.

Forwarding rule to external address and change of sender address

Hello, I have another question: we need the following process: incoming mail sent to a specific mail address should be sent to a mailbox on our mail server. In addition such emails shall also be forwarded to an external mail-address automatically (e.g. mails to test@companyname.com should automatica...

Re: Making sure an email has never reached EFA

Ok, in that case it was indeed a sender problem.
But thank you very much for your help and information!
Now I know how I can be sure if an email has reached the EFA or not!

Making sure an email has never reached EFA

Hello, we have sometimes the case, that incoming mails have been sent but never reach the EFA (or at least I don't see them). We need to be sure if the problem is on the senders' or the recipients' side. Can I be sure that the mail has never received the EFA if: - the mail is not listed in the overv...

Re: ClamAV Vulnerabilities

Thank you! I will try that.
Do you think that the problem (that mails are not coming through Outlook and reappearing in Mailwatch list) will also be resolved with your recommendation?
Or is it only for the boot-error-messages?

Re: ClamAV Vulnerabilities

Hi! Thank you very much. I was totally at a loss, I didn't see that the line in yum.conf was NOT comment (I have added # now). Now I get clamav updates, but also updates for kernel, kernel-firmware and so on. So my (hopefully) last two questions: - is it safe to install them as well? - shall I remov...

Re: ClamAV Vulnerabilities

Hi henk,

thank you!
Im running on EFA 3.0.2.6. When executing "yum check-update" I get no clamav-package.
Still version ClamAV 0.99.2 is installed.
What do I have to do?

Re: ClamAV Vulnerabilities

hi henk,

thanks for your reply! Sorry for asking silly questions, but by removing, you mean deleting the entries for clamav and clamd from the yum.conf file?
So that the config file looks like that:

Code: Select all

#exclude=kernel* postfix* mailscanner* MailScanner* open-vm-tools*

Re: ClamAV Vulnerabilities

Hi,

so that means, if we don't want to switch epel repo, we still have to wait?
Or is it necessary to delete "clamav*" and/or "clamd" entries from the yum.conf file?
