Re: how long does EFA keep the mail when the mail server is down.

That behaviour is controlled entirely by postfix. See http://www.postfix.org/postconf.5.html for a list of the configuration options. Specifically, look for maximal_queue_lifetime and read up on that parameter. By default, postfix will keep retrying message delivery for 5 days before giving up. Your...

Re: CAN EFA BE USED AS A AIO MAIL SERVER in place of Xeams

huh. I see what you mean. I guess I didn't notice the limitations because I can always change the underlying configuration myself to get what I need.

If you keep at it, you'll learn lots and it will get easier with time - whether you stick with zimbra or try something else.

Good luck.

Re: CAN EFA BE USED AS A AIO MAIL SERVER in place of Xeams

The best "free" mail appliances that I am aware of are all Linux based. Everyone of them will have a learning curve if you are not familiar with Linux. My mention if iredmail above is one of the easiest - to me - to configure and install. In the past, I've always done it by hand so I guess everythin...

I'm inclined to agree with budy here. Encryption is hard to get right and is probably best left to the client side.

I'm considering using iRedMail as a mail appliance. If you know linux reasonably well, you might want to look at this

Bad option: You could overrule the unverified_sender_reject_code to 250 for all vrfy requests from that specific domain.
Maybe not such a bad idea. Try it and see if it resolves the problem first.

Re: Sender verify failed

The problem currently is that we don't know why they are rejecting your messages, beyond the vague, "we cannot verify the sender address".

Capturing the logging, or even smtp traffic between the two servers when it happens may give us the clue we need to find a solution to your problem.

Yes, Odon's script above will do the job, but let me remind you that this is not really a fix to the actual problem you are trying to solve.

Re: Sender verify failed

Interesting. I've not heard of this feature before, so I've been reading up on it; https://infogalactic.com/info/Callback_verification Apparently, this seems like a bad idea and I think I have to agree. However, since they are doing it, you're going to have to live with their not-very-wise mail serv...

Re: Greylist Auto Whitelist

I understood you perfectly.

To answer your question means knowing where and how the information is actually stored. Since my data is not what I expected it to be, I was looking for confirmation that my data is atypical rather than typical and from there we can work out a solution to your problem.

Re: Sender verify failed

Verify the email address you are sending to. Is the address correct? Do all emails to that domain get rejected with the same error, or only that particular email address? Can you send email to that address from another domain, like gmail or some other mail provider?

Re: Greylist Auto Whitelist

That's a good question. I thought the information would be in the sqlgrey database, stored in a table with hundreds/thousands of entries, but instead I find the database is almost completely empty. Does anyone know where the information is actually stored? or does anyone have an sqlgrey database wit...

I use it, and there are a number of conditions that it does not detect. Embedded macros in MS Word documents is one hairball of a mess.

EFA handles email. EFA doesn't encrypt mail, so I don't see how this affects EFA in anyway.

Re: exchange server and EFA setting

Another thing to consider is how your exchange servers are configured. For example, do they serve separate domains, or do they serve the same domains? Do they know how to route mail to the other server if necessary?
