Supress daily DMARC reports
In https://forum.efa-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=5144 we discussed suppressing the daily DMARC reports because it generated so many outbound emails. I think this issue would come up from time to time for home users that have to endure an ISP that does not permit outbound SMTP. For such situations, a...

Re: How best to upgrade eFa to new server OS version
Check out my entries Migration failure CentOS 7 to Rocky 8 - restore from backup fails with mariadb [SOLVED] I write there an approach that worked for me. In a nutshell, running CentOS 7 with a current version of eFa resulted in the origin installation being quietly upgraded to MariaDB version 10.4....

Re: Future of eFa on RedHat-like systems
RedHat's announcement caught a lot of people off guard, but since the initial flurry, it seems as through the community is finding ways forward. In particular, Rocky Linux has both policy and technical paths forward as they have written in their post at Keeping Open Source Open While RedHat is publi...

Re: Migration failure CentOS 7 to Rocky 8 - restore from backup fails with mariadb [SOLVED]
Things are working well after the migration. In fact, the system appears to be functioning better at warding off unwanted email, rejecting more connections before the email event gets queued into the system (based on daily volume reports and evaluations of the messages getting through). There were a...

Re: Migration failure CentOS 7 to Rocky 8 - restore from backup fails with mariadb [SOLVED]
It looks like Backup & Restore Gone Wrong reported by mcit describes the same issue. In a nutshell, running CentOS 7 with a current version of eFa resulted in the origin installation being quietly upgraded to MariaDB version 10.4.25. However, Rocky Linux 8 is not using that version of MariaDB; b...

Migration failure CentOS 7 to Rocky 8 - restore from backup fails with mariadb [SOLVED]
I put aside my migration attempt for a while to let other folks blaze more of a trail. Time to try again! Unfortunately, I am still failing to get a successful eFa restore of the old system into the new, looking like troubles mostly with mariadb. My original system is CentOS Linux release 7.9.2009 r...

Re: Can I (should I) suppress DMARC report transmission?
Thanks for the tip. This worked great. So far, no negative consequences that I can find. This dropped my outbound mail volume by about 100 messages daily, or about 90%.

Can I (should I) suppress DMARC report transmission?
I am running a nice little mail server for my home using EFA. I went so far as to implement SPF and DMARC and all has been working nicely. Because I am a home user, I must use a commercial system to do outbound email relay. This service is cheap enough, but I selected the 150 outbound messages a day...

Re: Convert from CentOS 8 to Rocky
well, I wasn't lucky with the migration script and did a fresh install followed by a "System Restore" - this seemed the fastest way to get the mailserver up&running again I have my "empty" system built without having done the initial configuration. I then tried System Restor...

Re: Convert from CentOS 8 to Rocky
The problem with my first server was that several RPMs do have the identical names in eFa- and EPEL-repos, and so the migration script failed. I worked around this problem by excluding several packages from the EPEL-repos. I ran into the same problem and while the exclusions did the trip to get pas...

How best to upgrade eFa to new server OS version
My current eFa installation is running v4.0.4-26 on CentOS 7.9. My plan is to replace this server instance with a new one running Rocky Linux v8.5. In principle, I would build the new server instance with Rocky Linux v8.5, install the eFa software on it, then migrate across all the settings and data...

This looks to be the same issue that cause the "failed to build transaction" error during yum update for people with existing installation (see https://forum.efa-project.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4200). What is the best approach here to fix the issue, since yum update is not completing ...

Migrating to eFa from a traditional MailScanner installation
I have a functioning MailScanner installation running as an email gateway in much the same manner eFa is assuming (at least that's what it looks like to me). I have a few questions at the outset for how I can recreate the capabilities i have deployed today: 1) I have to use an external service to se...
